Our Approach

What assessment means at this clinic

Assessment is not a formality that happens before therapy starts. It is the foundation that shapes everything that follows. Without a clear understanding of what is actually maintaining your difficulties, treatment is a guess.

A mismatched treatment approach is not just ineffective. It can reinforce the sense that nothing works. The intake is where we build the clinical picture that makes it possible to recommend the right therapist, the right approach, and a realistic sense of what treatment can achieve.

For clients who need something more formal, such as a written diagnosis for insurance, workplace accommodations, or specialist access, we also offer full psychodiagnostic assessments with written reports.

What We Offer

Three types of assessment

Intake Assessment

Trauma-informed intake assessment

Every new client begins with a 90-minute intake assessment. This is not a screening. It is a thorough clinical conversation covering your history, current concerns, previous treatment, and goals. By the end, your therapist has a clear picture of what is maintaining your difficulties and what treatment approach is most likely to produce lasting change.

What you leave with

  • A clinical formulation of what is driving your difficulties
  • A recommended treatment approach and therapist match
  • A clear sense of what to expect from treatment

Psychodiagnostic Assessment

Psychodiagnostic assessment

For clients who need a formal diagnosis for insurance coverage, workplace accommodations, disability support, school access, or specialist referrals, we offer psychodiagnostic assessments. These include structured clinical interviews and standardized measures, and result in a written report suitable for external use.

What you leave with

  • Formal diagnostic formulation with clinical rationale
  • Written report for insurance, accommodations, or referrals
  • Recommendations for treatment and supports

Progress Tracking

Questionnaires and progress tracking

Standardized questionnaires are used at intake and at regular intervals throughout treatment. These measures help your therapist track how symptoms are changing, identify areas where progress has stalled, and adjust the treatment approach accordingly. Progress tracking is built into all programs at the clinic and is delivered through Greenspace, our secure client portal.

What you leave with

  • Baseline symptom measures at intake
  • Regular check-ins to track change over time
  • Data-informed adjustments to treatment when needed

Getting Started

What to expect

The intake process is straightforward. You do not need to prepare anything in advance or know which therapy is right for you. That is what the process is for.

1

Free 20-minute phone intake

A brief call with our intake coordinator to understand what you are looking for, answer your questions, and match you with the therapist best suited to your needs. No clinical assessment, just a starting point.

2

90-minute intake assessment

A thorough clinical session with your therapist covering your history, current difficulties, previous treatment, and goals. This is where the full picture gets built and where we identify what is actually maintaining your difficulties.

3

Formulation and next steps

Your therapist shares a clear formulation of what they found and recommends the treatment approach best suited to your situation. You decide together how to proceed and what the treatment plan looks like.

Is This Right for You

Who is this for?

The intake assessment is for anyone beginning therapy at the clinic, whether you are new to therapy or have worked with other clinicians before. It is the starting point for all individual and couples treatment.

The psychodiagnostic assessment is for clients who need more than a clinical formulation, requiring a formal written diagnosis for insurance reimbursement, workplace or school accommodations, disability benefits, or referral to another service.

Throughout treatment, we use standardized questionnaires through Greenspace to track whether the work is having an impact. This means you and your therapist can see what is changing, and when progress stalls, it gives you a clear signal to adjust the approach rather than continuing with something that is not working.
